Erica Lichty, born and raised in Seattle in 1977, is a third-generation Pacific Northwest native, mariner, and waterwoman. With deep roots in the maritime world, she graduated from California State University Maritime Academy and has since built a career combining organizational skills and hands-on maritime knowledge. Erica's experience spans over 20 years, having worked on oil rigs, supply boats, and in the yacht industry, both as a designer and vessel operator.

In 2021, Erica founded SEASTR PNW, a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing solutions, pathways, and access to recreational and commercial maritime programs. As a lifelong boater in the Salish Sea, she is passionate about creating a harmonious relationship between people and their environment. Through SEASTR, Erica aims to educate and empower individuals, especially those from underrepresented communities, to navigate the maritime world with confidence and safety.

Erica believes in the power of community, mentorship, and collaboration. She is dedicated to fostering inclusive and safe spaces within the maritime industry, striving to introduce more people—especially women— to the maritime world. With her expertise in vessel operations and design, Erica continues her work with SEASTR while serving as a role model and advocate for those seeking to build relationships with the water.

Her mission is clear: to provide the tools, knowledge, and support necessary for individuals to succeed and thrive in the maritime industry, ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, race, or background, has an opportunity to explore and contribute to the world of water-based professions.
